Rhassoul Clay Shampoo: Moroccan Clay Benefits for Natural Hair
May 17 2021
You may or may not be aware, but many brands of commercial shampoos are formulated with a wide array of toxic chemicals. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed not to find one or more of them listed on the label of leading brands of shampoos. “I love pouring toxic ingredients on my scalp!” said no one ever, and a much better solution is to use organic rhassoul clay shampoo instead.
What is Rhassoul Clay?
Rhassoul clay has been used by cultures for millennia as a means to cleanse their face, hair and body. The clay is composed of Stevensite, an all-natural and unique clay that is made up of magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron and other trace elements. Due to its cleansing and conditioning properties, this special clay is found as an ingredient in a variety of natural hair care products.
Moroccan Rhassoul Clay
Rhassoul clay, sometimes called Moroccan rhassoul clay, is mined from ancient, mineral-rich deposits in the Moulouya Valley in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The name “rhassoul” comes from Arabic verbiage and the English translation means “to wash.”
Rhassoul Clay Hair Products
There are many DIY rhassoul clay hair products available that you mix with liquid ingredients such as rose water, coconut milk and aloe vera extract to form a paste.
Although the method is definitely beneficial, it is also time-consuming, very messy and a hassle to apply and remove a DIY-made rhassoul clay shampoo from your hair.
In answer to all that, Mounia created a rhassoul clay shampoo and hair rinse product, which already has the measuring and mixing done for you. Our product offers you a much easier way to cleanse your hair, while still allowing you to reap the rewards of this wonderful clay.

How to Use Rhassoul Clay for Hair
It’s simple really; you use the Mounia Rinse much like you use a traditional shampoo First, apply the Mounia Rinse to your wet hair and lather it up. You will feel a foaming sensation that cleans your hair without stripping it of naturally occurring oils. We recommend lathering for 30 seconds to one minute, followed by a thorough rinse with warm water.
If you have color-treated or dry hair, you can add to the experience by following up with Mounia Masque Conditioner. The masque is formulated with organic cumin and flaxseed oil to weightlessly hydrate; biotin and nutrients additionally strengthen and repair color-treated and dry hair. Leave the Masque in for 5-10 minutes, or however long you feel like spoiling yourself. Lastly, rinse it all out and dry your hair.
